Strikers, Strikers Everywhere!

Peterborough United are looking to replace all their strikers but who has been linked with Posh?

With the exception of Jack Marriot, who is expected to be sold, and Idris Kanu, who will be shipped out on loan just as he should’ve been this season, Posh could be left with no first team forwards in the squad if Barry Fry can get rid of unwanted Ricky Miller and Junior Morias.

Posh will no doubt bring in a big frontman to hold the ball up when the ball is hoofed forward just as we saw in the games since Evans took over at Posh. Unfortunately we didn’t have any players that could hold the ball up this season so the balls often found the head of the opposition defence.

So who could Posh be interested in?

One of the names doing the rounds is Bristol City forward Matty Taylor. The 28-year-old controversially crossed Bristol from Rovers to City in January 2017 but in his first full season in the Championship with the Robins, he has only made 7 starts with 16 substitute appearances. He sat on the bench for a further 8 matches but with 23 appearances, he has managed to find the net on just three occasions! He was a regular goalscorer in Leagues One and Two and also the Conference prior to his move to City so he knows where the net is which is certainly something Posh need and he could be a good signing.

Another striker being linked with Posh is Danny Rose from Mansfield Town. The Stags are Evans former club so he knows first-hand what Rose is capable of. He has 14 goals to his name this season in 39 appearances although the former Bury striker has not been prolific in his career so far.

Director of Football Barry Fry was at the Stags match at the weekend in their one-all draw with Crawley Town but was he watching Rose or was he watching another Stags player?

Winger Alex McDonald could also be a target for Evans but with Marcus Maddison, Gwion Edwards, George Cooper, Joe Ward and Danny Lloyd all retained by Posh and who play on the wing, is there room for another winger?

There again, Fry could’ve been casting an eye over a Crawley Town player if a tweet from Darrach MacAnthony is to be believed!
